It is cold outside....

It is cold outside today.........  this morning was spent, being the domestic queen, shopping and a bit of cooking, made some nice pasties and a chocolate cake.............then I shut the world out.

Spent the afternoon cutting.... cutting.... chain stitching and finally finished  5 of the 20 dresden plates.... that means only 15 to go...........

  

As the evening meal is all orgainsed (homemade pasties and tomatoe sauce) will plodded along and get a few more dresden plates done.... before watching on ABC TV tonight , Death in Paradise and Body Farm.....  

The local libraries are having there Book Sale tomorrow ............so thought I would pop in and lend them a hand and get a few books at the same time.

Been awhile

Well it has been awhile…….  I have been busy with work and family the last few days , which I am mortified to say that, no form of any needle or fabric has passed through my hands over the previous few weeks….
I have how ever been checking out blog’s and found most of you have been busy, travelling, sewing, cooking and keeping fellow bloggers up to date on new books, fabric and products available. I must say I appreciate this as I do not have a quilt shop within my local area.

The closes shop is about two and half hours away….. Maybe if I win X-lotto………

I could open a shop (chuckle)

So even though sometimes when you are posting a blog you may thing it might not be interesting you are promoting and letting people like me know what exists out there…… thank you

My plans hopefully this weekend are to block out the world and get stuck into some secret sewing.

Mixed up week with a great finish

What a mystery tour I have over the last few days,

Tuesday last week started with a visit to a specialist (for which I had to wait 6 months to get an appointment) when the specialist proceeds to tell me he has a vacancy for tomorrow (Wednesday) for a day surgery procedure. Unfortunately the 1.30 pm appointment was dragged out to later in the day. Therefore because of the time I was advised to take Thursday off from Work.

But wait there is more  2 weeks earlier, I was able to have a free skin check for cancer spots and the GP on duty found a mark on my arm that need a bit more attention, so Friday had that removed and now have 6 stitches.

DS#2 , DIL and Grandson #1 had moved to Adelaide a few weeks ago, and rang Friday night to asked if DH and I could bring down a few more things we had in storage for them on Saturday (yuk a long weekend – Queens Birthday Public Holiday  I not over keen on travelling on long weekends) so good parents we are packed the car up ( I mean packed up ) and headed off to Adelaide early Saturday morning about a hour and half from the destination, I received a phone call from my dear son, “ Mum sorry to bother you but are you going to do any shopping before you come to our home, Well I was going to stop off a Spotlight on the way , why son, Well mum it would be great if you could come straight to our home as DIL has gone into labor)

So to top off my Saturday the safe but early (3 weeks early) arrived of grandson number 2. And mum doing Ok, DH and I Stayed until late Sunday evening, and headed home where the traffic going in the opposite direction to us was full on.

Got home safe and sound late Sunday evening. Where I spend Monday, as a domestic Queen, and got a bit of secret stitching done.

and I am speechless

the photos do not show the great workmanship and colours Kate has used

What more can a girl want

With chocolate, Hot Chocolate,Marshmallow's, a divine cup and mug mat

Kate has made my day..... so a BIG thank you

Small but cute

While glancing though a few blogs last night on Fiona's post,  she shared a site that has a recipe (instructions) for making these delightful small thread catcher. So  last night while DH was watching football I made one  so quick and easy and a fab idea for that little extra gift in a swap or school or quilt day fundraiser. ( I Hand Stitch my sides together)

Today has seen me playing the domestic queen......Had a busy week at work ... so I did have a bit of extra time in bed than usual, before head down and bum up got stuck into the dusting, vacuuming and washing before tackling the WINDOWS......such a joy joy off a job (chuckle)    

Wow that's a whole day there............. now off to have a cuppa  with DH ,

before it is that time to consider what to have for the evening meal.............. hope that I  will be able to spend a bit of time in the quilt room tonight  to put together a few more Dresden plates.

Hand Stitching ......

You might remember a few posts ago I mentioned DH and I went to Mildura for a speedway event, and I had a quick look in Spotlights. Where I purchased some fabric........ It is  not that I need to added any more fabrics to the stash I have at home (chuckle)
I made a few bags from the fabric and was waiting to get my acted together to finish off the bit of hand stitching. Well I have got my acted together and over the last two evenings while watching THE VOICE put that little bit of hand stitching in place.

these two pieces below need to be made up, but I am currently working on a swap, so like many of us will be put in the fabric stash for awhile..................

Cupcakes.....

House work and other domestic things  where on hand today...... including some cooking and stitching.
Made some home made pizza's .... did not last long enough for any photos... but the cupcakes and ANZAC Biscuits did get a photo shot opportunity before  disappearing.

 

Shared the goodies with the out laws (DH parents) for afternoon tea...... 

now off to do a bit of hand stitching before .....the evening meal needs consideration

Had a very quiet and relaxing weekend......... bit off my normal par levels over the weekend , had a ear ache and runny nose ....... but I did get

5 bags made................. need a bit of hand stitching before sharing

I changed my mind

A few years ago I purchased my first jelly roll - Urban Chicks 1974  so Monday Afternoon

decided to cut into strips  

 and sew into strips with every 2nd strip turned

then changed my mind and now started making

Dresden plates

hope to have 20 plates made over the next ????? days

But I have so many other unfinished project waiting to have finishing touches on them. I can hear them.....  when I go in my quilting room very softly giving me a message .....what about me ????

Dust and fumes

DH enjoys speedway........ so yesterday was spent travelling to Mildura to watch, Australian Modified Saloon Title.............. did have a small stop at Spotlights (show and tell later). and a stationery shop for a few  supplies

Got home at 2.30am this morning.... so might have a lazy day as works beckons me back tomorrow
