Bit of love and care

A few weeks ago my sister save this old ladder and thought I might like it ,so last weekend when Sis came up to attend the wedding, she brought the ladder along to....... so today  Huddy spent some time giving the ladder some well deserved love and now has a home in my quilting room.

Friday .....

Well where has the week gone, this time last week I had the day off to organise a few final touches before the wedding of my number one son last Saturday

And here it is Friday again.

I have a very busy week at work …. Catching up on the paperwork so the week has seemed to fly.

Last night together with a couple of work colleagues we ventured out on a Thursday night to the local theatre and watched the movie    ….The Vow…….nice chick flick

Tonight again with a couple of friends we are off to the theatre to see …. One for the Money should be a laugh as I have read all eighteen books from author Janet  Evanovich in which this movie is based on.

I really enjoyed reading these light hearted books and the sagas the characters got up to in the books.

I have had an urge to do a bit of English paper piecing the last few weeks, so if all goes well tomorrow I am hoping to take a drive to a part- time quilt shop in the area to see if they have any templates and papers.    (Wish me luck)

If not I will have to go online and order.  You know the saying keep spend local and support local ……. Sometimes it is hard to do this.

Sorry no photos this post as, the last few items I have been working on are for swaps.  So no show and tell      Take care    - cheers Marc

Monday a quick trip

Monday  saw a quick trip to Adelaide and back to return the hired
boys suits from the wedding  on Saturday
The trip was quick but could have been shorter if not for the roadworks

I also squeezed in a quick visit into Hetties and made a small purchase
sorry no show and tell as the item is to go into a swap later next month
DH and I where  home in time to have a nice hot chocolate mid afternoon
considering the round trip took 5 hours I did say QUICK

I will say  I slept very well Momday night

Where does the time go

Thursday started with house work from top to bottom for the visitors and family over the next few days....... (why do we think a clean house really matters when it comes to family and friends????)

Number one son wedding Saturday so Friday was spent setting up the venue
the ceremony was held in a old wool shed on the river front in The Riverland
wow what a view the river and surroundings looked astonishing

The Deck  overlooking the river was decked out in yellow fabric together with black and white roses

and the adjoining gardens where in full bloom adding to the most beautiful  surroundings just perfect for the photos

then off to the venue for the reception, to set up the tables
unfortunately ... not the best photo

each table had black table clothes
white chair covers together with black bows around the chairs
the white linen napkins
the middle of each table
had round mirrors with very very large martini glasses filled with clear water beads , and huge black water lillies together with a small LCD light in the glass with a touch of yellow in the menu and table numbers
the bridal table was the opposite

White table cloths - black chair covers together with white bows around the chairs and black table napkins

and along the front of the bridal table was small fairy lights
sounds a bit corny but beleive me- it was so gob smacking

Friday evening the bridal party together with in laws and out laws enjoyed a meal together before everyone head off for a good night night

Friday night saw my family all back together, my dear sons spent the night
and Saturday morning we all had a nice egg and bacon breakfast together ..... before the house filled up with family . freinds and etc

The boys all went of for a game of golf, before the wedding,  so there tell me ????

The cermony was @ 3pm to be followed by 6pm reception

between this period light refreshments and cocktail finger  food was served,
a fab idea as this also was a great time to meet, greet and mingle with the guests
while photos where being taken throughout the venue.

The reception was held at a local venue in the Riverland with a million dollar view over the river
the weather was incredible.
The cake was just unbelievable ---(chocolate mud cake) became the third course meal for the evening together with a nice strawberry sauce and fresh cream

the happy couple having a quiet moment

Sunday was spent with farewells...... family and visitors  and of course ..... dah dah the clean up ..........

I did late in the afternoon sneak in a nanny nap and could just keep my eyes open to watch the last 2 eposides of Homeland before dropping into bed

thats all folks

feeling lost...............

The last few weeks I have been, feeling a bit lost.............so I will be out looking for myself (chuckle)

Muggy and humid

....the weather this weekend of course!
It sure was a hot and sticky here in the Riverland this weekend, with near record temperatures.
So to be really honest not too much was achieved in the stitching department this weekend.

Saturday saw the bare minimum done in the household chores being achieved,
Having had a busy few days at work, together with the weather saw me having a few hours nap time Saturday afternoon
Therefore later Saturday evening saw some of my energy restored,

I did make the most of this bit of get-up-and-go and put together the finishing touches to a very basic quilt,

Unfortunately on the basting step discovered I am about ½ metre short with the backing fabric

(Was going to use the same fabric as the border)

I will have to wait now until next weekend to take a trip to an adjoining town to visit the fabric store for a substitute fabric.

Sunday’s weather again was beastly humid, sultry, muggy and sweaty day, if was not for the fact I needed to water DH parents garden as there away for a few days......  I would not have the need to venture outside.
I did start on a swap gift............

So really this weekend, has been a very quiet couple of days

Take care  - cheers marc

Quiet Day

The weather has been quite warm here in the sunny Riverland
so what better excuse than  to spend some time in my sewing room
not that I really need to find any excuses.
Did a quick clean up first before starting on some stitching.
I am making a few baby quilts as two colleagues are expecting additions to their families

DH is watching the cricket at the moment............
as I am currently hooked on a TV series
  HOMELAND
which  centres on Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody, who returns home eight years after going missing in Iraq, and  CIA officer Carrie Mathison, who suspects he might be plotting an attack on America.

So I off to organise a few things for tomorrow before the mini series starts

Take care ........ Cheers Marc

To hot do do any housework

So spent Saturday .... cleaning up my sewing room and found a lost friend,
Bugsy, help me yesterday and today finish off a couple of small items.
finished the embroidery on this small bag and sew together.

then started another bit of embroidery

Thought I might watch the tennis last night ............ but I just could not stand the chicks and there grunting............ so spent some time in the sewing room to finish off the embroidery and make a bag
with a little help from bugsy

this morning spend,  quality time with the in -laws
then  after lunch watched a DVD in my sewing room, where once again bugsy kept me company, while a made a another small bag.
As it is still quite warm here in the Riverland with a few light showers of rain which has not help with humidity ........ still there are still a  few things life I do not have a say in  ..... (the Weather) ...chuckle
have a great day and take care     Marc

Not a good start to the week

Woke up this morning at approx 5.40am to the sound of sirens, a blaze started in a steel fabrication factory  approx 800 metres from home, the fire  spreading to a neighbouring outdoor timber furniture business.

The fire generated large amounts of smoke as it burned treated pine at the timber furniture business.
The Old Sturt Highway was closed for several hours while firefighters battle the blaze. Traffic was detoured making it a slow drive to work this morning, (this was the least of my problems)  so while I was waiting in the queue, one of the employees, stop and had a chat , still in shock asked me the following ....arsonists ***** why do they do it?
I now don't have a job................the grieve in his voice was heart breaking.
Until next time cheers marc

The weather is great

Has been awhile since the last post............ back to work after a few days off over the Christmas and New Year period , Of course the fairies did not do my work for me while I was not there  so catch up seems to take most of my day time work, plus a bit of ill health has not helped with the mo jo.

I did last weekend get a few blocks for  my Some Kind of Wonderful quilt.  Now I am organised to do some hand stitching of an evening in the coming week (chuckle).

The weather has been great to me today, spent this morning doing the home duties, then after lunch  I started some embroidery, have a few gifts to catch up on.

DH is watching the Cricket so I going another room to watch a DVD and do some hand stitching
Enjoy your evening
Cheers Marc
