BOM 2006

Silly me not once did I mention that BOM 2006 .............purchased from Threadbare   quilt shop in Castlemaine 

Threadbear is in  Victoria. Specialising in reproduction fabrics from the 1800s.

At the moment really into reproduction fabrics............

Home Body

Had a few days off this week, so head down I was determine to finish the BOM 2006.

Yes I have finished the stitching part, currently on the bed in the spare room, will send off to be quilted within the next few days. 

This afternoon spent some time in my quilt room sorting out a few boxes, I shoved in the cupboards when we moved in over 12 months ago and yes found another BOM   Pies and Tarts  I purchased during the demolition and rebuilding of our home,  (12 months ago where has the time gone) , I put the TV on in the quilt room the midday movie a HART TO HART movie was on in the background while I started cutting out a few pies to hand paper piece of a evening.

Men go figure

Bit of adventure in the day............ up early this morning, worked on another quilt for my dear grandson, then had morning tea with the out laws oops in laws.
Had some old bread. so broke up the bread into smaller pieces and placed in a bowl outside the kitchen door, within 10 minutes had over 30 birds pecking at the bread, unfortunately every time I would try to get a good photo, they would fly away , so below is not the best photo shot, as I had to take a photo through the glass door. 

Then later in the day, DH and DS#2  decided to take the boat out for a run up river, and at the last minute also decided to put a couple of nets in to catch some yabbies.

DH does not have the best of reactions when he comes across a red back spider........usually you hear, dear to you have a moment, in a tone which sounds like he has had a accident or cut himself. So guess who has to come to the rescue and remove the spider.

But not today, I am inside making a food hamper for them to take on their boat trip,

when in a very casual voice, I hear .............. Darling have you got a minute just what to show you something I have come across in the shed.

SNAKE

Well I am beside myself, heart rate tripled it's beat..... hopping jumping and carrying on..................

Men carries on about a spider but not a snake ............go figure ??????????

Little bit further

Got a bit side tracked, the last few days, on my BOM 2006

Sat up last night and hand stitched around four Dresden plates so, I could start the first round on the quilt.

Spent this morning, catching with a couple of friends, done some shopping,  thought I would like to start making a quilt for my grandson , from Anni Downs 

A Boys Story

But unfortunately ......as we do not have a quilt shop, my closes store is in Adelaide, so hoping  within the next few days take a trip to Adelaide and visit Hetties  and get some fabric.
Spent most of the afternoon putting the first round on the BOM 2006

Now the evening meal, floor swept, dishes done, blah blah.................. off the watch My kitchen Rules and City Homicide and if all goes to plan, finish some more Dresden plates so I can do another round later in the week or over the weekend (chuckle)

Great Evening

Last night was Son Number 2, partners birthday, so a bit of a family tradition, to have a  evening meal together, but like all families sometimes that is not so, DH brought Chinese home, DS#2 and partner had unfortunately double book the evening as there had an appointment with the photographer for there wedding NEXT year.   The highlight of the evening was a visit from my 3 week old grandson.
 Who sleep the whole night. ................(but I did not care)

After the family departed I ventured into my quilt room and put a couple of DVD's on  and proceeded to put the middle part of my 2006 BOM together

Unfortunately when I don't have to go to work the next day and have the opportunity to sleep in a bit longer than a work day, I do not seem to be able to go to bed  early, so sat up a bit and started doing some hand stitching around the Dresden blocks. 

 

the next one?

Could not sleep last night ..............whats new ?............... so sat up for awhile and watched a couple of DVD's  (1) Red Eye  ............... not to bad   (2) Malice......... nice murder mystery. While these where playing , finished the hand stitching required on the next block of the 2006 BOM.
The Midday movie it about to start ..........a golden oldie  Columbo .........will start on the middle part of the quilt, lucky to have a small TV in my quilting room.            I like having background sounds (chuckle)

Morning Glory

Couple of girlfriends and I went to see Morning Glory over the weekend........  A light hearted comedy starring Rachel McAdams, Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton and Jeff Goldblum .the film is a charming workplace comedy based on a morning TV news show.  We shared a few giggles.

Spent most of Sunday cutting out the next round of my 2006 BOM quilt  240 pieces 2” in size

Then yesterday joint then together to make 12 desden plate. Will put them aside to hand stitch around the outside and place circles in the middle........bit of hand stitching for the nights.

Plan to start the next block, later today, as I spent this morning, baking ........ made a cheese cake, some homemade pasties and a beef curry pie topped with potatoes and cheese.

Unfortinately up at 5am this morning the neighbours dog had a very rare barking session, something must have upset him,as normally the dog is so quiet.
